Sumo Banners and Tower

I took this photo by Ryogoku-Kokugikan that is a sumo stadium in ryogoku district.
You can see names of sumo wrestlers on those banners.
That tower is a high stage for taiko drum.

Sumo is very famous in France, especially since our former President Jacques Chirac had a real passion for it.(he was very fond of Japanese culture)
It's incredible to think that this tower is a stage!

I'm really surprised about your great, sunny winter weather, Nobu-san!

We here in our part of Germany havn't seen the sun since...???
--> Two weeks!!! The sky at the moment is totally overcast and grey. Today we had light snowfall around temperatures at the freezing point.

So I really enjoy your winter images of Tokyo.
But yesterday I was able to take some pictures of spring flowers in a wonderful flower shop in the city of Stuttgart I want to post next... ;-)

I wish you a great week,

regards,

Uwe.

Nice post, so colourful. I see sumo is so popular in Japan. That's great that you have your 'national' sport!

As always, I'm intrigued how tradition and modernity live side by side in Japan... :)

A really spectacular image. I know something about sumo and find it fascinating. They even have a diet to get fatter!
