Statue of Sugawara Michizane

This statue stands in Kameido Tenjin.
Kameido Tenjin is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Sugawara Michizane (845-903) who was a great scholar, poet, also politician.
This statue is 5-year-old Sugawara Michizane.
A poem he composed at the age of 5 is carved on the base of the statue.

Kameido Tenjin

I visited Kameido Tenjin last Monday.
Ume blossoms bloomed very late in this year.
This year's Ume festival in the shrine had already finished at the time, but those Ume blossoms were still nice to view.
