Higashi Gyoen in Early Spring
Today, I went to Higashi Gyoen ( The East Gardens of Imperial Palace ).
The Eeast Gardens are located on the former site of Edo castle.
You can see a stone wall of the castle in the photo above.
Many ume trees are planted there.
And it was nice time to see ume blossoms.
You can see a bird on a branch of the ume tree in the photo above.
And I could see some early blooming cherry blossoms.
Photo below is kawazu-zakura.
Kawazu-zakura is a kind of cherry blossom start to bloom in winter.
It was almost full bloom.
Photo below is kanhi-zakura.
Kanhi-zakura is also early blooming cherry blossom.
It was not in full bloom yet.
It takes around 10 minutes from Tokyo station to The East Gardens by walking.

Konnichi-wa Nobu-san!
Are you sure you took the photos on January 23, so one month ago - like mentioned at the end of your post? Or on 23rd of February, that means today?!
I'm really a bit jealous about your great spring weather with all the cherry trees flourishing. Here at Germany we still have to wait to see the first snowdrops and crocuses coming out of the frozen ground...
...and another four to five weeks to see the plum and cherry trees flourishing!
Regards, Uwe.
Hello You-wee.
Thanks for your help.
It was February, not January.
Hello Nobu!
These pictures are adorable!
Glad to know you had a great time there.I would love to visit this fabulous place.
hugs
Léia
I like (and envy) all your great pictures of beautifu blossoms, but I am also amazed by the castle wall we can see in background in the first image. Is an impression or the row of huge stones are curved?
I adore the two close-up pictures of the ume-blossoms most, they look so magical when their petals open up! :)
Gorgeous! What amazing photos!
Your photos always make me long for japan even more. So beautiful.
