An Arbor in Koishikawa Korakuen

This small arbor stands by the Japanese iris field I showed you at my previous post.
I like the thatched roof of the arbor.

Kaminari Mon ( Gate )

Kaminari-mon is one of symbolic building of Tokyo.
Kaminari-mon literaly means "thunder gate".
This gate is the outer main gate of Senso-ji temple in asakusa.

Tokyo Ginko Kyokai Building

Tokyo ginko kyokai building ( Tokyo bankers club building ) is located in marunouch.>
That street is hibiya-dori (hibiya-street).
The old building remains as a part of the new building.

The Old Building of The Bank of Japan

The Bank of Japan is the central bank of Japan.
The head office of the bank consists of the old building, new building, and annex building.
Those are located in nihonbashi motoishi-cho.

The old building was built in 1903.
It was designed by Kingo Tatsuno (1854-1919).
He is also known as architect who designed the old building of the Tokyo station.
I took this photo from sotobori-dori (street).

Kanda Yabusoba

Kanda Yabusoba (かんだやぶそば) is a long-established soba shop in kanda-awajicho.
Soba is a Japanese noodle made from buckwheat flour.
It is a most famous soba shop (soba restaurant) in Tokyo.
It is established in 1880 and that building was built in 1923(after the great kanto earthquake).

Isegen

Isegen (いせ源) is a long-established Japanese restaurant in kanda-sudacho.
The restaurant is specializing in monkfish (arglerfish) dish.
It was established in 1830, and current building was built in 1930.

It is located very close to Takemura that I introduced you yesterday.

Kabuki-za Theater

Kabuki-za theater is a theater for Kabuki.
It is located in ginza.
It was opened in 1889.
Current building was rebuilt in 1950.
But it will be broken down in 2010 for new building.
We will lose a wonderful land mark in ginza.
Personally, I think it should be kept with repair construction.

Meiji Seimei Kan

This building is located in marunouchi.
It stands across the Imperial palace plaza.
You can see it in the photo I post yesterday.
(Hibiya-dori at marunouchi)
It was built in 1934.

Yamanoue Hotel ( Hilltop Hotel )

Hilltop Hotel is located at kanda-surugadai in ochanomizu.
This building was built in 1936 and opened as hotel in 1954.
This classical hotel was loved by Japanese excellent writers such as Yasunari Kawabata and Yukio Mishima.

Long approach lies from the main street.

Walking from Ginza to Akihabara (mitsui honkan)

I have passed nihonbashi bridge, and still walking along chuo-dori(street) at nihonbashi.
This building is Mitsui honkan building.
It was built in 1929.

Around this building, there are some buildings which I should post.
But I must harry up to get akihabara.
I will show you those buildings some day.

Walking from Ginza to Akihabara (Meidi-ya)

I'm walking along chuo-dori(street) at kyobashi.
Kyobashi is a historical commercial district in Tokyo.


This is maidi-ya building.
Maiji-ya is a food company.
I love this nostalgic building.
It is connected to subway station (Kyobashi station).

Yonei Building

Yonei building is a small building which is located ginaza 2-chome.
It was built in 1930.
I like this building.

Especially I love this entrance.
Nostalgic atmosphere still remains in ginza.

Light upped Matsuya Ginza

This is Matsuya department store at ginza.
It is located along chuo-dori(street).
It is one of most popular department store in ginza.

By the way, they cultivate vegetables in the roof of the building.
Because it prevent a temperature rise of the concrete in summer.

Light Upped Ginza Mitsukoshi

This is Mitsukoshi department store at ginza.
This building is located in one of the corner of ginza 4-chome crossing.
I think it is the most famous crossing in Tokyo.

Light Upped Wako Building

This is Wako department store main store in ginza.
It is a symbolic building of ginza.
I heard that they reduced electricity to light up the building about 70% by improvement of equipment in 1999.

Sogakudo

This is the oldest western concert hall in Japan.
It is held in ueno park as one of important cultural property.

By the building, there is a statue of Rentaro Taki who is well-known composer in Japan.

Radio Kaikan

"Radio Kaikan" is a shopping center in akihabara.
It is close to akihabara station.
They sell audio equipment, PC, figure, DVD, game, and so on.

Yodobashi-Akiba

Yodobashi-Akiba is a branch of Yodobashi Camera.
It is very large.
It is located on the east side of akihabara station, and close to central exit of the station.
Yodobashi Camera is a discount electronic products chain store.

Shinjuku Alta

Shinjuku alta is a fashion building.
It is close to the east exit of the shinjuku station.
It has a multipurpose studio,"Studio Alta".
On the wall of the building, large high-vision screen is set.
In front of Alta has been well known meeting point in east side of shinjuku.

Lumine Est Shinjuku

"Lumine Est" is a department store which is connected JR shinjuku station.
It is located at the east exit and central east exit of the station.
I think it is a department store for younger women.
When I was young, it wss called "My City".
